Trail of Tears, Mount Pleasant, Tennessee

Public Square, Mount Pleasant, TN

The installation marking the Trail of Tears in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee uses the form of lowers sprouting from the soil. In the center of each blossom contains the faces of a Native American, along with their name, drawn from the muster rolls of the U.S. Army identifying individuals and heads of households who were on the forced march.

The dedication day for the project brought together representatives from the Native American community who still reside in the area.
