Bench Project

Benches put in public places have been a way to mark and teach about the Trail of Tears in a variety of public locations.

A number of the benches include the names of people who perished along the way, collected from the muster rolls kept by the U.S. army.
A number of benches were created with my students when I taught at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee.
