Justice Served, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee

The mural “Justice Served” was first on display inside the  Lawrence County, Tennessee Courthouse.

  • It depicts an important 1946 civil rights case in Lawrence County, where justice was served.
  • A young Thurgood Marshall, the first African American Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court, was the lead Defense attorney. His partner and the lead attorney during the actual trial was Alexander Looby, pictured in the mural.
  • All contributors and supporters of this project have been recognized in a plaque adjacent to the mural.
