The works that are in this series are an experiment using art to address some of the violence and degradation of the past.
Living in the Deep South for many years I have come to learn of the over 4,000 acts of racial violence that have taken place even in areas I call home. In 2016, I began to visit these sites and collect soil from them to mix with the paint for this series. I call this group “Healing the Horrible” each one pays tribute to a person who was a victim to this unmarked holocaust.
